Tattle Tale® Advanced Flare Control and Monitoring
Tattle Tale® is a true advancement in flare control and monitoring. It has been proven that destruction efficiency and combustion temperature have a direct relationship when monitored at the flare tip. Tattle Tale monitors and communicates the flare exhaust temperature via a PLC to a variable frequency drive to adjust the speed of a combustion air blower. The system and logic give the perfect air/gas mixture ensuring destruction efficiency above 99%. Tattle Tale can utilize up to four additional inputs including exhaust temperature, thermal mass flow meter, ambient temperature signal, and pressure signals resulting in even higher destruction efficiency and flare control.
About Tattle Tale®
Typically, combustion air blowers on air flares operate at one speed. If an under-fired situation occurs where the air to gas mixture is too lean, destruction efficiency can drop below 98%. In an over-fired situation, the opposite may occur. While variable frequency drives can be utilized to alter the speed of the blower, the operator is still left guessing which speed is most efficient as flow rates and gas chemistry are always variable. Tattle Tale® takes the guessing out of the equation by monitoring and altering the velocity and amount of combustion air in real time.
