Flame Arrestor Purge

Automatic purge system for enhanced safety and flame arrestor protection

  • D.B.I.’s flame arrestor purge system is designed to protect flame arrestors from burn-back events and extend operational safety during critical conditions such as startup and commissioning.
  • By automatically detecting flame presence and initiating a purge cycle, the system prevents damage to the arrestor element and reduces risk within the system.

What It Does

Protects flame arrestors from burn-back and oxygen intrusion

When a flame is detected on the arrestor, the purge system automatically floods gas through the unit to extinguish the flame and remove oxygen from the system.

  • Prevents burn-back damage
  • Extends arrestor lifespan
  • Improves system safety during unstable conditions
  • Automatically responds without operator intervention
How It Works

Temperature-triggered purge response restores safe conditions automatically.

The system continuously monitors temperature downstream of the flame arrestor.

  • A temperature probe detects elevated heat levels
  • If temperature exceeds 300°F, a gas solenoid activates
  • Purge gas is injected upstream of the arrestor
  • Flame is extinguished and oxygen is removed
  • System continues cycling until conditions stabilize

Burn-back events typically occur when oxygen enters the system. The purge system eliminates this risk by removing oxygen and restoring safe conditions.
