Through advanced photo imaging technology, Providence Photonics has confirmed D.B.I. equipment meets facility compliance standards and surpasses a destruction efficiency of 99% or better. Providence Photonics uses a Video Imaging Spectral Radiometer (also known as Mantis) to “directly measure relative concentrations of combustion product, carbon dioxide (CO2), and unburned hydrocarbon (HC) in the flame, and calculate flare combustion efficiency (CE) in real time.”

Providence Photonics has developed a method to remotely measure the performance of an industrial flare using Video Imaging Spectral Radiometry (VISR). The VISR method provides five flare performance metrics: combustion efficiency (CE), smoke index (SI), flame stability (FS), flame footprint (FF), and fractional heat release (FH). The VISR method is incorporated into Providence’s Mantis™ flare monitoring product (Mantis). Providence performed a series of measurements for David Bacon Incorporated (DBI) in Midland, TX using the Mantis flare monitor on January 13th, 2022.
